To help create a waste-free Ontario, businesses that produce batteries, electronics, tires and hazardous and special products are obligated to provide collection sites across the province for the public to drop off these materials once they’re finished using them. Materials collected at these sites are reused, refurbished, recycled or properly disposed of to keep them out of landfill, recover valuable resources and protect our environment.
Click the material headings below to find a drop off location near you:
Please Note:
Not all Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs), which provide collection services to producers, provide a list of collection sites. Where a list of sites is not available, please contact the organization directly to find a location near you.
Collection sites are not permitted to charge consumers a fee or refuse the drop off of obligated materials. If a consumer is charged a fee for disposal or refused drop off, they can contact the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority’s Compliance and Registry Team at registry@rpra.ca or 1-833-600-0530.
If the location site near you does not accept the materials you are looking to drop off, please contact your municipality for proper disposal instructions.
